Beginning July 1, 2024 students may declare a major in Asian Studies with a major concentration in Asian Languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. The Department of Transnational Asian Studies offers courses in four Asian langauges: Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Language courses focus on the development of interactional competence in the target language. Courses are based on a student-centered, critical thinking approach to language analysis and acquisition.
