Japanese

The Department of Transnational Asian Studies teaches Japanese through the fourth year. The courses guide students to understand the Japanese-speaking culture and society through our focus on language awareness and critical language analysis.

Japanese is an option to fulfill the language requirements for both Asian Studies majors and the minor and the Linguistics major. Japanese is recognized as a critical language by the United States Department of State. Rice awards the Certificate in Language and Intercultural Communication in Japanese.
