The Department of Transnational Asian Studies teaches Korean through the fourth year of study, with courses focused on specific topics such as business and current issues. Rice awards the Certificate in Language and Intercultural Communication in Korean.
Korean is an option to fulfill the language requirements for both Asian Studies majors and the minor and the Linguistics major. Korean is recognized as a critical language by the United States Department of State.
